• Tips for Choosing a Paintless Dent Removal Company

    Accident damage

If you want to get your car back on the road after a collision, but you don’t everyone to know about it, make sure you choose an auto body repair shop that specializes in paintless dent removal. Depending on the extent and location of the damage your vehicle sustained, paintless dent repair may be used to fix the damage without needing to repair your car. You can trust paintless dent removal, but you can’t trust every paintless dent removal company. Here are some tips for finding the right auto body shop to work on your vehicle.

Every company has to start somewhere, but you’d be better off trusting a shop that’s been auto practicing auto body repair and paintless dent repair for years. At Michael J’s Body Shop, we’ve been fixing cars for over two decades. Each year, our auto body repair technicians work on thousands of cars, and we carry the latest technology to restore your vehicle to like-new condition.

    Collision Repair Services

Paintless dent repair is one thing, but it might not be the only thing your vehicle requires after an accident. To avoid driving around to multiple shops to get your car fixed, choose a company that offers full-service collision repair in addition to paintless dent removal. At Michael J’s Body Shop, our collision repair services include full body work, frame straightening, suspension repair, complete auto detail, and (of course) paintless dent removal.

  • Techniques for Removing Car Dents

Dent removal in the past was barbaric by today’s standards. Using a screw, auto body repair technicians would literally pull out the dent piece by piece. Unfortunately, this left a lot of holes in the metal and could lead to corrosion. Today, auto body repair is more akin to an art form than sheer brute strength. One of the methods for removing car dents is using an “eagle claw” stud welder. This technique requires the technician to shape the panel back to the original contour before priming and painting it. To learn more about this technique, watch this short video clip.

Here at Michael J’s Body Shop , we use the latest tools and techniques to restore your vehicle to like-new condition following a collision. • How to Keep Your Car from Rusting

    Rusty Ride

One problem that any motorist wants to avoid is rust. Besides making your car less attractive, rust can also cause serious structural damage if left unchecked. To prevent your car from rusting, wash your vehicle every two weeks and apply a wax coating once a month. If you live in an especially moist area, anti-rust spray can be used as additional protection against rust. And if you ever see signs of scratches, bubbling, or flaking on your vehicle’s paint job, take your vehicle to an auto body shop to prevent rust forming underneath the paint.

From minor dents and scratches to major auto body damage, Michael J’s Body Shop can help keep your car looking like new. We have two state-of-the-art collision repair and auto body repair shops in San Jose to serve you. Call us at (408) 279-2070 to schedule an appointment at either one of our Bay Area body shops

  • Safety Tips for Driving at Night

    traffic at nightfall

Human beings are diurnal, which means we weren’t meant to be traipsing around in the dark. And yet, that doesn’t stop anyone with a driver’s license from getting behind the wheel at night. Because nearly 90 percent of your reaction ability while driving relies on sight, your chances of being involved in a collision at night are significantly greater than they are during the day. To keep your car on the road and out of the auto body shop , keep these safety tips in mind the next time you drive at night.

    Increase Your Following Distance

Because your sight is limited at night, your reaction abilities are also limited. To prevent a collision, give yourself extra time to react in case something develops in front of you. To do this, increase your following distance from three seconds to five seconds. And be sure to pay attention to the road ahead and traffic around you in case you need to quickly evade an accident.

    Slow Down

While increasing your following distance, be sure to slow down while travelling at night . The average driver requires three to five seconds to stop when driving 65 miles per hour. Because it may take you an extra second or two to recognize the need to slam on the brakes at night, slow down to account for the extra braking time needed. It might take you a few extra minutes to reach your destination, but at least you’ll make it home in one piece.
